“Jessica Ring is an extraordinary young woman, and we are thrilled that we can help her pursue these goals,” said firm founder Neal Gainsberg. “Jessica was an ideal candidate for us, and really exemplified the type of student we’re looking to help: passionate, driven, and fueled by a desire to change the world. We expect great things for her, and it is our honor to be able to help her on her journey.”
About Jessica Ring
Jessica Ring has been a high school English teacher in the South Side of Chicago for years, serving underserved and vulnerable populations. As a first-generation college student, she understood the importance of having mentors who could help you through the education process. As a teacher, she saw first-hand the effects that food and housing instability, poverty, gun violence, and police brutality had on her students and their collective communities.
Ms. Ring spent time in and out of the classroom as an advocate for her students: helping with recommendation letters, preparing kids for job interviews, assisting them through the immigration process, and ensuring they had the tools they needed to thrive in their environments. It was during this time that she realized she wanted to do more. And while she believes in the change that strong teachers can make, Ms. Ring knew she could become a better advocate for the community at-large if she worked to effect change from the inside.
That is why she decided to attend Northwestern Pritzker School of Law. Ms. Ring is especially interested in the work that the Bluhm Legal Clinic does with incarcerated minors. When she completes her degree, she intends to return to Chicago to serve as an advocate for her community full-time.
