Four Seasons Preschool Invites Prospective Collaborators to Support Nationwide Expansion Plans

-- Four Seasons Preschool is announcing partnerships and community collaborations to reinforce its plans for nationwide expansion and extend its early childhood education mission to more communities. Led by Co-owners Karen Arena and Tracey Hanley, the Watertown-based organization began franchising in 2023 as part of an effort to establish additional preschool locations and create opportunities for educators to become school owners.

The expansion initiative builds on the organization’s history, which began in September 1981 when the original school was established. The decision to introduce franchising marked a new stage in the organization’s development, providing a framework for extending its educational approach to other locations while involving educators in the ownership and operation of early childhood programs.
Hanley notes that the collaboration would be an important part of the organization’s plans. “Expanding early childhood education involves people who understand the significance of the early years and are willing to work together toward a shared goal,” Hanley states. “Partnerships can help connect the experience, resources, and commitment needed to bring educational opportunities to more communities.”

The announcement for collaboration encompasses individuals and organizations interested in supporting the expansion effort. Potential areas of involvement include partnerships that support the establishment of additional locations, connections with educators interested in school ownership, and support that may help advance the organization’s broader plans. The announcement invites interested parties to discuss possible collaborations in line with the initiative’s goals.

The organization’s expansion plans also reflect its stated interest in educator ownership. Under its franchise model, Four Seasons Preschool aims to aid teachers in establishing and operating their own centers, with the broader objective of extending early childhood education opportunities across the country. The approach places educators within the organizational development process, linking school ownership with the work of delivering age-appropriate education and care.

Hanley’s responsibilities include coordinating curriculum and training staff and franchise owners. Her role connects curriculum planning with the preparation of educators working within the organization’s programs.

“Teachers contribute to children’s early learning through their daily interactions, observations, and guidance,” Hanley says. “As we consider expansion, it is important to recognize the people who carry out this work and the role they play in the development of each school. Building partnerships gives us an opportunity to bring more people into that conversation.”

Four Seasons Preschool’s educational framework addresses social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. Its programs cover infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and pre-kindergarten children, with private kindergarten available at select locations. Activities and classroom instruction are organized according to children’s developmental stages, providing context for the organization’s focus on early childhood education.

For the expansion initiative, the organization is inviting prospective partners to explore ways to work with the organization. These discussions may involve the resources and relationships needed to establish additional locations and connect educators with ownership opportunities. The scope of any partnership would depend on the interests and involvement of the parties involved.

Hanley notes that the long-term objective extends beyond adding locations to the organization’s network. “Early childhood education is a shared responsibility that involves families, teachers, school leaders, and the wider community,” she remarks. “Our goal is to build relationships that allow us to continue this work in more places while keeping children’s development and the people who support it in view.”
