The tours are small in size and feature transportation to and from hotels. The tours operate from September through April, which is the best viewing period. Group members are picked up between 9 and 10 pm and return to their hotels between 3 and 4 am. The tours depart from and return to Fairbanks, Alaska hotels on a daily basis. The group sizes are small so that the members can receive personalized, hands-on technical training on how to take photos of the Northern Lights from their friendly local Alaskan Guide.
The fully guided tour includes an email and or phone leading up to the tour with a time for pickup and an explanation of the science behind the Aurora display. Group members learn what makes Fairbanks an ideal location for Aurora viewing. Additional information about the history of Fairbanks and gold mining in the Interior is included.
