Evebot Introduces Smart Portable Food Printer with Built-In Camera for Real-Time Print Alignment

The new handheld direct-to-food printer combines camera-assisted positioning with portable edible printing for cafés, restaurants, hotels, and catering businesses.

-- Evebot has announced the release of the Evebot Smart, a handheld direct-to-food printer designed to simplify edible printing through real-time camera preview and on-device positioning.

The new printer features a built-in camera and a 5-inch touchscreen that allow users to preview where a design will be printed before edible ink is applied. According to the company, this helps reduce alignment errors and unnecessary waste when printing on food and beverages.

Two Approaches to Food Printing

Food printing solutions generally fall into two categories.

The first uses edible icing sheets or wafer paper that are printed separately before being applied to cakes, cookies, and other desserts. This approach is commonly used for cake decoration.

The second is direct-to-food printing, where edible ink is applied directly to the surface of food or beverages. Because the design is printed onto the product itself, there is no transfer layer. Historically, this type of equipment has primarily been used in larger commercial settings due to its size and cost.

Evebot says the Smart has been developed to make direct-to-food printing available in a more compact format suitable for everyday hospitality use.

Camera Preview for Print Positioning

A key feature of the Evebot Smart is its built-in camera, which displays a live preview on the printer's touchscreen before printing begins. Users can adjust positioning in real time, helping ensure the design is placed where intended.

The printer also includes a transparent side viewing window that allows operators to monitor the printing process as it takes place.

Portable Design for Hospitality Businesses

The handheld printer is intended for use in cafés, restaurants, bakeries, hotels, catering services, and event businesses where customized food and beverage presentation is becoming increasingly common.

According to Evebot, the printer can be used on a variety of suitable surfaces, including coffee foam, cocktails, cookies, macarons, firm desserts, and other edible items compatible with direct-to-food printing.

Technical Specifications

The Evebot Smart offers a maximum print area of 5 × 10 cm with a print resolution of 300 DPI. It connects via Wi-Fi and operates using rechargeable battery power, allowing it to be used without a fixed workstation.

Replacement edible ink cartridges are available in multiple colours and are rated for approximately 3,000 prints under standard operating conditions.

The inks are described by the company as FDA-compliant, Halal-certified, vegan, gluten-free, and SGS tested.
