— Empowery, the eCommerce Cooperative, announced today that it has appointed Ed Carr, an experienced procurement and supplier management executive to the position of Director of Supply Chain Management. In this role, Carr will be responsible for fulfilling the co-op’s supply chain strategy, including authenticating potential suppliers and negotiating rebate programs and price schedules. Empowery is the first cooperative of its kind. It offers a partnership between eCommerce business owners in which each member’s success contributes to the power of the co-op.
“We’re lucky to have gotten Ed to come aboard with Empowery,” said Barth Getto, President of Empowery. “He brings a lot of diverse expertise to the project, the ability to see the big picture but really nail the strategic details as we move forward.”
Carr will be in charge of devising revenue growth incentives and overseeing member interaction and sales activity with suppliers. He is tasked with identifying and assessing new business opportunities for Empowery. At the same time, he is responsible for directing suppliers on specific development projects to enhance programs and partnerships.
“This is certainly the kind of challenge I like,” Carr said. “Empowery has an exciting business model. I think we can make a big impact on the field of eCommerce.” Carr has over 20 years of experience in procurement, sourcing and supply chain. Earlier in his career, he served as Vice President of Buying, Executive Project Coordinator, Director of Purchasing as well as Product and Merchandising Manager. His experience includes 11 years at one of the largest privately held cooperatives in North America.
