-- The International Academy of Family Lawyers (IAFL) has announced the appointment of Dr. Hassan Elhais, Legal Consultant at Awatif Mohammad Shoqi Advocates & Legal Consultancy, as Co-Chair of its Committee on Child Relocation.

The IAFL is a leading global association of family law practitioners, recognized for advancing legal knowledge and promoting best practices in cross-border family law. Dr. Elhais’s appointment reflects his extensive experience in international family law and his ongoing contributions to legal education, cross-jurisdictional cooperation, and the development of fair and effective family law frameworks.
Dr. Elhais has been an active member of the IAFL for several years, participating in key conferences and discussions on family law issues such as child abduction, enforcement of foreign custody orders, and international relocation. As Co-Chair, he will work with international counterparts to address the complexities of parental relocation cases and develop initiatives aimed at improving international cooperation in such matters.

With more than 19 years of experience practicing law in the UAE, Dr. Elhais has advised on a wide range of cases involving family disputes, child custody, divorce, inheritance, and cross-border parental abduction. His legal opinions have been sought by courts and law firms in the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, and several European countries.
As part of his new role, Dr. Elhais will collaborate with legal experts from around the world to produce guidelines and best practices for resolving international child relocation cases. He will also support IAFL’s mission to strengthen communication among jurisdictions and promote understanding of how different legal systems address the relocation of children across borders.

The IAFL Committee on Child Relocation focuses on developing recommendations and educational materials for legal practitioners handling international relocation disputes. Its work includes examining recent case law, proposing policy initiatives, and fostering cooperation between legal systems to protect the rights of children and parents involved in relocation cases.
