-- Dr. Genea’ Ewing-Wilson was presented with the “Excellence in Education Award” at the Education 2.0 Conference, held from April 7–9, 2026, at the Bellagio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The award recognizes educators, administrators, and leaders who demonstrate consistent excellence in teaching and learning while supporting academic growth and contributing to the educational ecosystem.

Dr. Genea’ Ewing-Wilson was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. She attended Consortium College Preparatory High School, where she received academic awards and recognition. At 18, she left Detroit for Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. She later graduated with her Bachelor’s in Elementary Education. Genea’ took a job as a high school teacher for students with at-risk behaviors and also worked with 3rd graders. She later earned her Master’s in Educational Leadership from Wayne State University and has currently earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. Genea’ has worked with youth since 2007, in after-school programming since 2015, and has served as a site lead in the program since 2017.
Her work with the College and Career Ready Pipeline (C2 Pipeline) has focused on structured student engagement and academic direction. The work includes guiding learners through activities that encourage participation, consistency, and awareness of educational pathways.
After receiving the award, Dr. Genea’ Ewing-Wilson shared how honored she felt to receive the Excellence in Education award at the Education 2.0 Conference and having the opportunity to speak with other education professionals who are driving education forward for our students. “Moving forward, I plan to take some of the ideas presented at the conference and incorporate them into college and career-ready lessons for my students.”
This recognition reflects Dr. Genea’ Ewing-Wilson’s continued effort in education and youth-focused initiatives. The approach centers on maintaining structured learning environments and contributing to programs that support student development over time. Her efforts remain connected to initiatives that focus on student participation and long-term academic engagement, shaping how educational programs are delivered within the communities served.
