Dayna DeHerrera-Smith, MPH, serves as the Director of Community Engagement & Development at Porch Light Health. Since joining the organization in 2017, Dayna has played a key role in expanding addiction treatment services across urban, rural, and frontier communities in Colorado and New Mexico. She leads the development and stewardship of community partnerships and oversees grant funding and programming.
With a Master's degree in Public Health from the Colorado School of Public Health, Dayna brings a public health lens to advancing accessible, equitable substance use disorder treatment. She is deeply committed to improving access to care and promoting harm reduction practices—particularly for BIPOC, justice-involved individuals, and those living in rural areas.
Dayna shared her thoughts upon receiving the award, saying, “I am grateful to receive this award and for the trailblazers who have come before me in the fight for harm reduction and accessible care for people who use drugs.”
Her achievement highlights her continued contributions to community health and her role in expanding access to addiction treatment services. Dayna’s work reflects a strong commitment to equity, collaboration, and improving health outcomes for underserved populations.
