Homelessness is a highly detrimental state of living for anyone especially for the children, without a home and stability children forced to live on streets are deprived of all the necessities children require in order to grow up as empowered, responsible and independent adults, who contribute in the prosperity and progress of their community. Bhawna Gupta, a wife and a mother of two with a compassionate heart has set out to do her part to counter the problem of homeless, orphaned children in Muzaffarnagar, India by building a shelter for the underprivileged children to provide them with food, clothes, a place to live and education so they have a better chance of becoming independent adults. Bhawna requires the assistance of the generous online crowd to make her dream come true, the project is currently in need of funding to cover the cost of building and running such an establishment, a crowdfunding campaign has been launched on Indiegogo with a funding goal of at least $10,000 USD to be raised within the next 21 days.Homelessness is a problem that is multiplying much faster than the solutions being developed to resolve this problem, a problem which the government of India has seemed to fail at resolving. Compassionate people like Bhawna and many kind and compassionate people locally have been working towards helping people in need better their lives and improve upon been dealt a bad hand, unfortunately their efforts and monetary contributions are insufficient.
Bhawna explains: “They (the children) are living their lives in a very miserable condition. They don’t have food, clothes and live in a shelter which is in bad condition. I want to provide them with food, education so that they can become self-dependent. We are collecting funds for them on local level by reaching people who can really generous and helping them. Still there is a need of huge funds which the local people cannot meet.”
The funds collected from the crowdfunding campaign will be direct put towards providing food, clothes, books, sanitation, medicines and much more. On the subject of risks and challenges Bhawna and her team is ready to take on any challenges that might occur. She realizes that acquiring adequate funding is a challenge many crowdfunding campaigns, therefore a contingency plan is under work to carry the project forward. Bhawna encourages people to donate generously and also spread the word about the campaign.
