Wakefield, MA: CommTank, the premiere oil tank emergency response company in New England, recently performed essential maintenance work for major organizations Madico and Transwestern. In each case, CommTank’s swift successful intervention enabled the company involved to maintain workflow, avoiding downtime and serious cost complications.

One of the leading manufacturers of coating and laminating products globally, Madico experienced an emergency when their underground chemical tanks began taking on water. The proprietary chemical inside acts as solar panel backing and helps produce the window film cover on the John Hancock Towers in Boston. Unfortunately, the leak was destroying this chemical blend and costing the company $45,000 in lost product. Within a short week, CommTank was able to dig deep underground to install new tank sumps, solving the problem and saving Madico thousands of dollars in the process.

Transwestern, a real estate firm and management company, lost 110,000 gallons of water from a 250,000-gallon water tank supplying a sprinkler system for their Braintree Business Park building located in Braintree, Massachusetts before calling CommTank. After receiving Transwestern’s request for help, CommTank immediately drained the tank, welded new plates, and tested them all on a Sunday to prevent facility downtime. Without CommTank’s aid, Transwestern would have had to shut the building down entirely.

“We’re proud to call many of New England’s finest businesses customers and feel honored that they trust us with bigger, more complex challenges every day,” said founder Kevin Hoag.

CommTank also recently assisted the Massachusetts Army National Guard by replacing fuel pumps at four separate bases. These pumps supply the Humvees, tanks and trucks that the Army National Guard relies on to provide continuous service to the state of Massachusetts.

CommTank places a high premium on safety during its underground storage tank removal efforts. All CommTank employees receive training in OSHA Hazwoper and Confined Space Entry. Trained professionals prepare necessary permits and health and safety plans. They also displace all chemical and fuel vapors before entering tanks.

CommTank has also provided successful services to other high profile companies such as the Public Service of New Hampshire, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, Harvard University, IBM, the Massachusetts Water Resource Authority, and dozens more.

Founded by Kevin Hoag in 1994, CommTank provides oil tank installations, maintenance and removals to over 32,000 residential and commercial customers in the New England area. The company also offers environmental consulting, UST operator training, third-party inspections, and Veeder-Root certifications. With its robust team of 25 field technicians, 14 office professionals, and 13 service trucks, CommTank operates out of a 60,000 square foot headquarters in Wakefield, Massachusetts. As it has for generations, the organization continues to function as a family-owned and operated business. Customer loyalty and satisfaction are Commtank’s primary values, along with advanced technology and reliable, responsive service.
