Change Management’s radical transformation is happening now thanks to Dr Grant Van Ulbrich of SCARED SO WHAT Ltd.

With over 20 years in global sales leadership and revenue roles within the hospitality industry, Grant went into the first master’s in science for the sales career pathway in 2018 with the Consalia Sales Business School and Middlesex University of London.

It was there, he learned about the global organisational change models designed to impose change upon individuals rather than with or for the individual. “Where’s the model for the individual to accept or reject change?” Grant asked his professor.

That was the moment that would forever radically transform organisational change management. Flash forward to today, the now doctor, two-time book author, coach, researcher and fellow, has tested his innovative bespoke personal change model called SCARED SO WHAT with thousands of people across the globe.

 “We’ve never been taught how to manage personal change for ourselves,” said Dr. Grant, in his TEDx Imperial College of London talk in 2023, now with nearly 1.2 million views.

Dr. Grant’s research demonstrated that organisational models have a high propensity towards failure because of the lack of inclusion on the individual. When you think about it, it really makes sense. When was the last time your leader or supervisor asked you about how you felt or if you accept the change before imposing it on you at work? Most people would say, never.

For organisations to become highly successful with change management, his personal change model features an app and web-based system, along with digital data insights to give the organisation its first look at change management in real time. His highly accredited programme also features a certification curriculum for organisations to become inclusive change management champions themselves.  

The first part of the model is SCARED. This focuses on one’s feelings and facilitates decision making that is supported with an interactive quiz in the app system. 

The second part of the model is SO WHAT. The app guides people to make their own plan to manage their change along with timelines, SMART goals, and objectives.
