-- Bukie Opanuga, founder and CEO of Modavate, Inc., a human and technology solutions firm headquartered in Metro Atlanta, has been selected by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to participate in its Emerging Leaders Program. The initiative focuses on small, poised-for-growth companies with potential for creating jobs. The seven-month intensive, executive entrepreneurship education series includes approximately 100 hours of classroom time per participant and provides the opportunity for small business owners to work with experienced mentors, attend workshops and develop connections with their peers, city leaders and financial communities. The program incorporates a curriculum that is research-based and nationally scalable, encouraging participating businesses to engage in focused development and expansion strategies, including options for accessing new capital and securing government contracts.
Since the start of the program in 2008, the SBA’s Emerging Leaders Program has trained over 5,000 small business owners, creating more than 6,500 jobs, generating over $300 million in new financing, and securing over $3.16 billion in government contracts.
The Emerging Leaders Program prepares and encourages small businesses to move to the next level of their growth trajectory and seeks to help them emerge as self-sustaining businesses that create jobs and build communities. Chosen entrepreneurs will produce a three-year strategic growth action plan that will help connect them with the necessary support and resources to keep their business moving forward.
“I am truly honored to have been selected as one of twenty C-Level executives to participate in this year’s SBA Atlanta class,” said Opanuga. “Modavate is in good company as we go through this curriculum, and I can’t wait to see what my peers and I accomplish in the next seven months.”
