Call for local Mudgee groups to apply for funding boost

August 23, 2026 -- Community groups in the Mudgee area with projects or ideas that make a positive difference to the local community are being encouraged to apply for funding in the next round of Moolarben Coal’s Community Support Program.

The 2027 Community Support Program is funded by Yancoal Australia and provides financial assistance to not-for-profit local groups working in the areas of health, community, environment, arts, culture, education and training.

Moolarben Coal General Manager, Tim Slater is encouraging locals to raise their hand for assistance by applying for funding.

“Our Community Support Program gives us the opportunity to assist locally focused programs and initiatives capable of making a real contribution to the continued growth and sustainability of the Mudgee area.

“A previously successful organisation is the Cudgegong Cruisers. With funding support from us they were able to run the annual Can Cruise Mudgee one-day car and motorcycle rally. It is their key fundraising activity, raising money for country people affected by cancer.

“In the past, Moolarben has also donated funds to the annual Gulgong Henry Lawson Heritage Festival, which brings everyone together and helps keep poetry, storytelling and visual history alive in the community.

“These are just two examples of some of the great projects that have been supported by our program, which assisted many people in our community.

“If you have a project or idea that has the potential to benefit others in the Mudgee area, we encourage you to apply now,” said Tim.
