Call for local Gloucester groups to apply for funding boost

August 23, 2026 -- Community groups in Gloucester, Stroud and District with projects or ideas that make a positive difference to the local community are being encouraged to apply for funding in the next round of Stratford Coal’s Community Support Program.

The 2027 Community Support Program is funded by Yancoal Australia and provides financial assistance to not-for-profit local groups working in the areas of health, community, environment, arts, culture, education and training.

Stratford Coal Operations Manager, John Cullen, is encouraging locals to raise their hand for assistance by applying for funding.

“Our Community Support Program gives us the opportunity to assist locally focused programs and initiatives capable of making a real contribution to the continued growth and sustainability of the region.

“A previously successful organisation is Wards River Rural Fire Service (RFS). With funding support from us, they are better equipped and more efficient in a fire crisis with new firefighting equipment including a hose washer, multi-purpose ladder for the Category 2 truck and a compressed air retractable hose reel.

“In the past, Stratford Coal has also donated funds to the Stroud and District Tennis Club to improve safety at the Stroud Showground with the purchase and installation of a lifesaving defibrillator.

“These are just two examples of some of the great projects that have been supported by our program, which assisted many people in our community.

“If you have a project or idea that has the potential to benefit others in the region, we encourage you to apply now,” said John.
