Call for local Blackwater groups to apply for funding boost

August 23, 2026 -- Community groups in Blackwater and the surrounding areas with projects or ideas that make a positive difference to the local community are being encouraged to apply for funding in the next round of Yarrabee Coal’s Community Support Program.

The 2027 Community Support Program is funded by Yancoal Australia and provides financial assistance to not-for-profit local groups working in the areas of health, community, environment, arts, culture, education and training.

Yarrabee Coal Operations Manager Mike Priestly, is encouraging locals to raise their hand for assistance by applying for funding.

“Our Community Support Program gives us the opportunity to assist locally focused programs and initiatives capable of making a real contribution to the continued growth and sustainability of the region.

“A previously successful organisation is PCYC Blackwater. With funding support from us, they can continue to have a positive influence on the lives of young people in our community, getting them active and participating in creative arts and experiential learning activities.

“In the past, Yarrabee Coal has also donated funds to the Emerald Polocrosse Club to run the annual Emerald Polocrosse Carnival.

“These are just two examples of some of the great projects and events that have been supported by our program, which assisted many people in our community.

“If you have a project or idea that has the potential to benefit others in the Central Highlands Region, we encourage you to apply now,” said Mike.
