For over 30 years, this incredible nonprofit has opened its doors to families traveling for pediatric medical care—offering them a place to stay, a warm meal, and a community of support during some of life’s most difficult moments. It’s a mission rooted in compassion, and one that inspired us to step up and contribute in a meaningful way.
Through our AQ Cares program, we partnered with others in our industry to provide the Ronald McDonald House with a much-needed roof replacement—ensuring that the families who rely on their services continue to have a safe and welcoming place to call home. It wasn’t about the materials or the labor, it was about doing the right thing for a local organization that gives so much to so many.
What Ronald McDonald House Does
The Ronald McDonald House of Springfield offers a haven for families whose children are undergoing serious medical treatment. Located just steps from area hospitals, the House supports up to 20 families at a time, providing lodging, meals, and a compassionate environment during what is often a very stressful period.
Since opening in 1991, the facility had relied on the same original roof to shelter families. After three decades of exposure to New England weather, the time had come for a major update. With the help of generous partners, we made sure that update happened—quickly, professionally, and without cost to the nonprofit.
A Community Effort Fueled by Partnership
We weren’t alone in this project. It came together thanks to a shared vision and the generosity of others who believe in giving back:
- GAF Roofing supplied all roofing materials needed to complete the project.
- Beacon Building Products provided additional support in sourcing and delivering materials.
- The Melanson Company, based in Keene, NH, joined us on-site with expert labor and project support.

From start to finish, the work was seamless. Crews carefully removed the old roofing system and replaced it with modern, energy-efficient materials designed to protect the building and its guests for many years to come.

While the new roof is an improvement in terms of durability and aesthetics, its real value lies in what it represents: reliability.
For families staying at the House, every detail matters. A well-maintained roof means comfort, quiet, and protection during a time when they shouldn’t have to worry about anything beyond their child’s health. For the staff, it means one less infrastructure concern—allowing them to focus fully on delivering care and support.
