-- Andrea Thomas, Co-founder of ARMOUR Families and Founder of Facing Fentanyl, received the “Excellence In Education Award” at the Education 2.0 Conference, held from April 7–9, 2026, at the Bellagio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, USA. This award recognizes educators, administrators, and leaders who demonstrate consistent excellence in teaching and learning environments while advancing academic growth and awareness.
Andrea Thomas is the CEO of ARMOUR Families & Facing Fentanyl, a nationally recognized grassroots initiative. She leads efforts to combat the fentanyl crisis through prevention education, legislative advocacy, and community engagement. After losing her daughter, Ashley, to fentanyl poisoning in 2018, Andrea transformed tragedy into a mission to protect families and save lives.
Through ARMOUR Families, she focuses on building systems to prevent synthetic drug use through innovation, science-based strategies, and data-driven solutions. She works closely with federal and local law enforcement, schools, and national partners to deliver fact-based education on counterfeit drugs. Andrea is a national voice and Founder behind ‘National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day’ observed on 8/21.
After receiving the award, Andrea stated, “We don't do this work for recognition, but this award reminds me that the message of impacted families is far-reaching and we are being heard.”
