AirAsia X (AAX) proudly marks the resumption of its services to China's famed Mountain City of Chongqing, with the launch of four weekly flights beginning today. Chongqing is not only famous for its tantalising local cuisine, including the iconic fiery mala hotpot, but it also stands as the world's largest municipality, home to nearly 32 million residents.

The inaugural flight, D7 808 send-off ceremony was attended by Dato’ Fam Lee Ee, Chairman of AirAsia X, and Benyamin Ismail, CEO of AirAsia X. The flight departed from Kuala Lumpur at 7:35PM on Tuesday (15 October) with a healthy load factor of close to 90 per cent and arrived at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport at 12:45AM early Wednesday, packed with travellers who are looking forward to visit and explore the city.

This vibrant destination is quickly emerging as a top choice for solo adventurers and couples seeking short getaways filled with immersive cultural experiences. Chongqing offers a perfect blend of modern urban life and rich historical heritage, making it an ideal spot for those looking for both excitement and relaxation.

AAX also proudly welcomed its first flight from Chongqing to Kuala Lumpur this morning, celebrating this significant milestone in partnership with Tourism Malaysia. Guests aboard flight D7 809 can look forward to a warm reception from Nor Hayati Zainuddin, Deputy Director of Tourism Malaysia and AirAsia Allstars.

The airline has once again reiterated its position as the largest foreign low-cost carrier in China. Currently, AirAsia Group operates flights to a total of 19 destinations in China, with more than 60 routes two-ways.
