-- The continuous eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau in the Sunda Strait, Indonesia has resulted in extensive volcanic ash clouds expected to affect airspace within the region. Volcanic ash poses a significant threat to safe operations of the aircraft in the vicinity of volcanic clouds.
As a result, all AirAsia flights to and from Jakarta have been cancelled or rescheduled following the temporary closure of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK) due to volcanic ash. The volcanic ash situation has also required operational adjustments to selected AirAsia services whose flight paths may be affected.
AirAsia has notified all affected guests on their flight status and recovery options and the airline is working hard to ensure that guests can resume their journeys safely on the next available flight.
The weather event remains fluid and AirAsia guests travelling to/from the affected destinations are strongly encouraged to check their latest flight status at airasia.com/flightstatus.
AirAsia is continuing to monitor Mount Anak Krakatau’s volcanic activity and will update its travel advisory with the resumption of normal operations.
