AirAsia Drone is proud to announce its latest collaboration with GIT Academy, one of Malaysia's largest and oldest Tourist Guide training academies licensed by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC).  This partnership aims to equip Licensed Tourist Guides with essential drone knowledge, marking a new chapter in the Academy's dedication to offering world-class training for tourism professionals.

This collaboration between AirAsia Drone and GIT Academy highlights the importance of ensuring legal compliance and safety in the rapidly growing field of drone operations, further enhancing the professional skill set of Malaysia’s Licensed Tourist Guides.

Over the years, GIT Academy has successfully trained more than 10,000 Licensed Tourist Guides, ensuring the highest standards of hospitality for visitors from around the globe. In this new initiative, GIT Academy will work alongside AirAsia Drone, Malaysia’s first Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM)-certified Remote Pilot Training Organisation (RPTO), to offer certified drone courses. These courses will help Tourist Guides operate drones safely and legally, as the popularity of drone photography grows.

With drones becoming more affordable and capable of capturing stunning high-definition footage, this collaboration ensures that GIT Academy graduates are well-versed in the latest safety regulations and operational best practices. AirAsia Drone will train the tour guides to handle drones responsibly, further enhancing their skills in photography and videography while ensuring the skies remain safe for all.

Krishan Raj, Head of AirAsia Drone said: “Recreational drone flyers without proper training pose one of the highest threats to safety and security, often going unaccounted for. We are proud to be working with GIT Academy, the leading Tourist Guide Academy in Malaysia, to introduce drone safety and legal compliance to the public. This partnership allows us to ensure that these professionals are equipped with the knowledge they need to operate drones responsibly, promoting safety in an ever-growing industry.”

Kenny Khan, Founder and Principal of GIT Academy said: “We are excited to partner with AirAsia Drone to provide our guides with cutting-edge skills in drone operations, safety, and compliance. This collaboration is a reflection of our commitment to continually evolving our training programs to meet industry needs.”

The drone training courses offered to GIT Academy trainees include:

1. CAAM Certified Remote Pilot Certificate of Competency-Basic (RCoC-B)
2. CAAM Certified Remote Pilot Certificate of Competency-Module 1 (RCoC-M1 EVLOS)
3. CAAM Certified Remote Pilot Certificate of Competency-Module 2 (RCoC-M2 AGR)
4. CAAM Certified Safety Management System (SMS)
5. Drone Photography - Basic, Intermediate, Advanced
