Adam Schlossberg of Northeast Private Client Group On Guiding Investors Through 2025's Economic Crosswinds

Adam Schlossberg shares strategies in USA Today for navigating 2025’s market volatility with clarity, caution, and personalized financial planning.

-- As investors brace for a year defined by contradictions—resilient consumer spending clashing with persistent inflation, AI-driven gains amid valuation risks—USA Today has spotlighted Adam Schlossberg, CFP®, for his role in helping clients cut through the noise and chart a thoughtful financial path forward.

Schlossberg, President and Managing Partner of Northeast Private Client Group, shared a sharp perspective in the USA Today feature titled “Mastering the Art of Navigating Economic Turbulence.” His advice: approach the year ahead with “opportunistic caution.”

“You have to approach 2025 with what I call opportunistic caution,” says Schlossberg. “We’re seeing conflicting economic signals—strong consumer spending on one hand and inflation pressures on the other. Our role is to filter that noise, prioritize fundamentals, and stress-test assumptions.”

According to Northeast Private’s 2025 Outlook, the U.S. economy is walking a tightrope. The report suggests that while fiscal expansion and deregulation could lift GDP, certain policy shifts may also introduce long-term inflationary pressures. Schlossberg warns against complacency, even as markets seem to expect continued earnings growth.

“We’re seeing AI-driven productivity as one of the few tailwinds, but valuations in sectors like tech and discretionary may already be stretched.”

With the S&P 500 potentially reaching a price-only high of 6,300 by year-end, Schlossberg emphasizes the importance of strategy over speculation.

“This is a year to understand what you own and why you own it,” he advises. “Factors like liquidity, tax-efficiency, and resilient allocation models are areas that people may want to explore more deeply—ideally in a conversation tailored to their individual goals.”

That commitment to personalized planning is foundational to Schlossberg’s approach. While Northeast Private’s Outlook calls attention to opportunities in Industrials, Energy, and Financials—and suggests caution around long-duration bonds and speculative growth names—Schlossberg is clear: one-size-fits-all advice doesn’t work.

“Long-term investors who are already fully allocated may want to maintain their focus,” he says, “but those with near-term needs should evaluate where their assets are positioned. Each person’s timeline and goals are different—and that’s where individualized planning matters.”

For income-focused individuals, Schlossberg also highlights the importance of proactive yield strategy.

“Income-oriented individuals might explore opportunities to lock in yields, keeping in mind that principal volatility may rise as inflation expectations shift.”

Ultimately, Schlossberg believes enduring financial leadership is about preparation, not prediction.

“Most recessions, when they happen, start slowly and then all at once,” Schlossberg says. “The goal is to have a strategy that won’t flinch—because emotional reactions can often be more damaging than economic ones.”

In a year filled with market noise, Schlossberg offers what today’s investors need most: clarity, calm, and custom-built planning.
