Abiquo is pleased to announce the August 2018 launch of the latest version of its award-winning software. Abiquo version 4.4. includes significant updates to the way the software handles — cloud bursting as well as introducing sought-after features like VPN as a Service, VMware clusters, and much more.
"CIOs have long been looking for a way to deliver availability and performance SLAs in cloud environments, and trying to use multiple clouds made that even harder," said Ian Finlay, CEO at Abiquo. "Version 4.4 makes it easy to deliver those SLAs, by introducing more extensive multi cloud management features so that users can extend applications with resources in any other cloud - whether private or public - based on application performance, guest utilisation, and other important metrics. We are excited to roll out these critical new capabilities for our customers."
First among Abiquo's updated cloud control features is the ability to create action plans as part of the software's new control view. This means that users can use Abiquo's point and click user interface to implement cloud bursting driven by application monitoring rather than sheer capacity. In Abiquo 4.4, metrics form the foundation for this cloud bursting approach, allowing users to work with built-in metrics for WM's and scaling groups as well as custom metrics throughout the cloud.
The Abiquo cloud management platform also now has created two "Alarms" tabs for both infrastructure and the cloud to replace the single VM alarms tab in previous versions. This feature allows users to select entities with metrics and create alarms for them. The new control view at the cloud level gives users the ability to create alerts that incorporate and even combine alarms from across the platform and trigger action plans.
Abiquo 4.4 users will be thrilled with the platform's new hybrid cloud features, including Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Classic integration, tenant hierarchy management, and an ability to configure the UI to group public cloud regions by provider. Perhaps the most exciting of the new hyprid cloud features is VPN as a service, which allows users to create VPN's between Abiquo VDC's as well as between a VDC and external infrastructure.
The Abiquo 4.4 update includes a host of new Multicloud VM features, including the ability to limit VM's at all levels, display all VM's in virtual datacenters, define virtual datacenter roles and restrictions, move VM's between virtual appliances in the same VDC, and deploy all VM's with the click of just one button. Finally, private cloud features like improved support for VMware clusters under vCenter and Dnsmasq support and UI enhancements such as menu changes and improved virtual appliance cards round out this major update.
Finlay went on to say, "Cloud bursting has been the holy grail of cloud management for some time now. We're proud to have developed a cloud management platform which takes this already revolutionary idea to the next level. We look forward to all the ways these new features will simplify things for service providers who rely on the Abiquo software."
