-- AARNIVA, an Ottawa-based bedding brand, is marking its first year in business this month with a catalog built around one idea: Canadians should have more than a few big names to choose from when they shop for bedding. The company says it launched in October 2025 and now sells comforter sets, bedsheet sets, duvet covers, quilts, pillows, kids’ and baby bedding and a Hotel Collection online.
The anniversary comes as Canadian shoppers adjust to the loss of one of the country’s most familiar department stores. Hudson’s Bay filed for creditor protection in March 2025 and closed its last stores June 1, 2025, Global News reported.

“As we saw some larger brands moving or closing, we wanted to create a brand Canadians could turn to, reducing reliance on a limited number of major names,” said Bharti Thumar, CEO of AARNIVA, who co-founded the company with Harsh Patel.
AARNIVA says it makes its products at its own manufacturing unit in India, which it says gives it control over design. Its comforters come in designs including florals, paisleys, plaids and geometric prints, and its cotton sheet sets come in solids and patterns. Its kids’ range includes themed comforters, and its baby range includes blankets, play mats and hooded towels.
“We want that choice to come with lasting value,” Patel and Thumar said.
For its second year, AARNIVA says it plans to grow its kids’ and baby collections, expand its hotel and motel bedding and introduce custom-design comforters and bedsheets for homeowners, interior designers and architects. The company has not announced launch dates for those lines.
