Winnipeg Canada – Partners For Home, a Winnipeg Based care home is proud to announce that they recently sponsored the Care4You 2018 event which was run by the Alzheimer’s Society of Manitoba.
Both Dementia and Alzheimer’s cause dramatic life changes to both the patient and their families or carers. In most cases, all of the focus and attention is directed towards the well-being of the patient, and the family and carers often receive little or no support in what can be an emotional and physically exhausting situation.
The Care4You 2018 event was designed and created to assist families and carers and featured highly-qualified emotive and knowledgeable speakers. Janice M. Keefe Ph.D. opened proceedings with a talk on the importance of recognizing the role of being a care partner in supporting your family member, or friend living with dementia. She also discussed how it is essential to assess the carers specific needs for support, and how they can advocate for improvements to policies and programs.
The Alzheimer’s Society regularly works with groups in the community to develop unique opportunities which offer stimulating activities for both people with dementia and their carers of families. The Care4You event showcased a number of different innovative community programs that help and have been proven to engage people with dementia and their care partners.
