The Funeral Directors who work with Martin Oaks Cemetery and Crematory, Inc recognize and admire the efforts and sacrifices made by veterans of the United States military. There is a beautiful story regarding Mr. Henry Stuehmeyer, a retired solider who passed away at the age of 93, after a life of dedicated service. In December 1944, Stuehmeyer, then only eighteen, was deployed to Marseilles, France, as a member of Canon Company C with the 23nd Infantry Regiment of the 42nd Rainbow Division. During his service, Stuehmeyer would see action in France, Germany, and Austria. He earned the first of his three Bronze Stars during the Rhine Offensive. In April 1945, Stuehmeyer along with the 42nd Division helped liberate 30,000 prisoners being held Dachau, a concertation camp created by Adolf Hitler.
