There’s nothing more frustrating than tossing and turning all night. But millions of Americans can’t get enough sleep, and the problem can be particularly troublesome for adults over 65.
Some are taking prescription sleeping pills. Others say they have tried everything from meditation to melatonin with varying results.
But now there’s a new high tech option that is changing the way people think about sleep. rempatch from Voxxlife uses a unique tactile pattern to trigger a neuro response. ”It looks like a band-aid, you simply peel and stick it on your arm. It’s totally drug-free, non-invasive and non-addictive, it helps relax the brain. You can sleep easier, longer and better.” according to Stan Esecson Voxx Vice President.
The patch uses a variation of the Human Performance Technology pattern (HPT) that’s integrated into other Voxx products that have been shown to improve balance, strength and range of motion. HPT products include a line of socks, insoles and patches. The proprietary HPT pattern triggers a neuro response by stimulating nerve endings in the skin.
The sleep breakthrough will be a welcome relief for countless seniors who are already at higher risk for falls, cognitive decline, depression and more.
Esecson continued, “Older people can have more trouble falling asleep and staying asleep, and we know a good night’s sleep is essential for physical and mental health. We’re thrilled to be able to provide this powerful new tool to improve their quality of life. Sleep studies are underway to help understand how this unique product works.”
How important is sleep?
“Quality and quantity are two important aspects of reducing stress, improving mood and providing lots of energy,” the Functional Aging Institute says. “Lack of sleep and stress go hand in hand.”
The National Sleep Foundation adds, “Not only will getting your zzzs help you perform, learn a new skill or help you stay on task, but it may also be a critical factor in your health, weight and energy level.”
Experts advise tips like these to help achieve restful nights.
Don’t exercise too close to bedtime, it stimulates your brain and can raise your body temperature.
Maintain bedtime routines and schedules.
Get some sunlight every day.
Keep your bedroom cool, dark and free of electronics.
Avoid caffeine after noon and consuming too much alcohol close to bedtime.
Limit liquids as bedtime approaches; lots of falls happen as a result of getting up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night
Talk to your doctor about chronic issues. You could have sleep apnea or other serious but treatable disorders.
Resistance training can be helpful. Lifting weights, using resistance bands, or yoga can be fun and helpful. Strength training lowers the risk of falls and boosts sleep consolidation, the brain’s ability to store memories and learning.
Esecson continued, “It’s amazing what we’re learning about the mind-body connection and how it affects everything we do. Ask any Neurologist, they’re the first to admit how much we don’t know about the brain. rempatch is such a simple solution, and might just have a profound impact on the lives of people dealing with sleep issues. Best of all, it’s so quick and easy to try. You simply stick one on your arm, and then just like mom used to say “GO TO SLEEP”. Due to the current world crisis that has affected global supply chains and manufacturing, rempatch is currently available in very limited quantities.
