Following the news that the Earthquake Brace + Bolt program (EBB) has successfully helped more than 5,000 homeowners to seismically retrofit their older houses, The Foundation Works, a Burbank, CA based foundation repair, inspection, house bolting, soft-story retrofitting, and seismic retrofitting company is proud to announce that they completed approximately 10% of ALL EBB projects, with nearly 500 homes bolted and braced. In addition, just since joining the EBB program as a contractor in 2017, The Foundation Works has maintained its Yelp 5-star review rating with over 170 5-star reviews on Yelp in addition to being listed on EBB’s website as a FEMA-trained contractor.
Established as a program within the California Residential Mitigation Program, a joint powers authority of the California Earthquake Authority and California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services, EBB offers grants of up to $3,000 to help California homeowners retrofit their houses to reduce potential earthquake damage. A residential seismic retrofit makes a house more resistant to earthquake activity, such as ground shaking and soil failure, by bolting the house to its foundation and adding bracing around the perimeter of the crawl space. The EBB program has also released a video celebrating the 5,000-home milestone.
According to Tom Pelletier, Owner and Founder of The Foundation Works, the work his team has been able to perform for homeowners using grants from the EBB program has been incredibly rewarding. “We pride ourselves on our ability to perform a detailed inspection of a foundation system. We bring the judgment needed to formulate honest, accurate repair prescriptions that eliminate the “worst offenses” or problems of an existing foundation system with the intent of extending its overall useful life, if at all possible, and of course, protecting the home. It has been a tremendous privilege to work with homeowners through the EBB program to ensure their homes are safe, supported, and secure -through bolting and bracing—in preparation for any future earthquakes.”
The Foundation Works serves homeowners throughout Southern California, from Marina Del Rey in the South Bay to Pasadena in the San Gabriel Valley. The Foundation Works also performs retrofitting for soft-story structures, inspections, repairs, and partial and full foundation replacements to homeowners and commercial property owners throughout the Greater Los Angeles area. However, demand for The Foundation Works’ expertise is “pleasingly relentless”, according to Pelletier, who is building infrastructure to scale steady expansion. “Our scope of service, our geographic reach, our (wo)manpower, our inherent and constantly increasing talent, all are combining for a wonderfully exponential growth pattern that we are grateful for, humbled by, and thrilled that we’re daily able to bring our expertise to more homeowners than ever as the growth keeps rolling out!”
