The Texas Hill Country Braces For Outrageous Annual Event This Labor Day Weekend

Share this news:

The Bertram Oatmeal Festival is a two day annual event held in Bertram, Texas every Labor Day weekend. This long running festival offers many family friendly activities and attractions.

The quaint Texas Hill Country town of Bertram is preparing itself for this years’ annual Labor Day event, The Bertram Oatmeal Festival. The festival begins Friday evening in the nearby town of Oatmeal, and ends Saturday evening in the city of Bertram.

Many of Bertram’s’ downtown streets will be closed to accommodate the parades, music, vendors, games and other fun and unusual activities that make up the annual Oatmeal Festival. All of this, in addition to the growing number of out of town guests that the event attracts, is expected to fill the downtown. It was also announced that the Austin Steam Train Associations’ “Bertram Flyer” will be making a stop, bringing in even more visitors.

This may be seen as a minor inconvenience to some, but local residents really support the festival. That’s because this two-day party has a truly noble purpose. Funds raised go to support scholarship opportunities for young students. The amount raised has steadily increased since the inception of the program.

Many local businesses also actively support the mission of the festival through sponsorship and direct participation. They consider it to be a great opportunity to reinvest in the community. Organizers insist that the annual event wouldn’t be possible without the continued, reliable support of local business.

This long-lasting local tradition could not have carried on successfully without the continued efforts of a dedicated group of volunteers that put it all together. They make up a small not-for-profit that works hard year ’round, just to make this two-day festival the best that it can possibly be. To that end, they are always looking for help. Whether it’s to volunteer or to donate, contact the Oatmeal Festival Bowl of Directors to learn how to be a part of next years’ event.

Some of this years’ activities include a 3.3-mile fun run, guided trail-ride, baking competition, pet parade, live music, after-hours street dance, pageants, lots of children’s games and rides, etc. For a complete schedule of events, check out their website here.

So this Labor Day Weekend consider a trip to the Texas Hill Country to find out what makes the Bertram Oatmeal Festival so special.
