-- The Eye Institute, a comprehensive family eye care center with locations in Raleigh and Knightdale, NC, has announced its new Give Back Program. The program was created to help those in the community who cannot afford an eye exam or glasses.

The new program encourages members of the community to nominate people who they believe to be in need and cannot afford to pay for eye care. The nominations are accepted all year round, and The Eye Institute Optometrist Eye Care Center will donate a free eye exam and pair of glasses per month, based on justified need and at their discretion.
The Give Back event was previously hosted at their Knightdale, NC location on a single day each fall. On that day, the first 100 people through their door would receive a free eye exam and a free pair of glasses. They started the program in 2011, and their most recent event was held on September 28, 2019. To date, The Eye Institute has given away an estimated 900 exams and pairs of glasses.
With the outbreak of COVID, The Eye Institute decided to switch to the new program for the health and safety of the community. In addition, the new program of accepting nominations all year long will help extend the reach of the program, which will allow it to help more of the community.
When asked about the event, a spokesperson for The Eye Institute said, “Although COVID has prevented us from holding our Annual Give Back Event we recognize how important it is to help the local communities that we serve.”
