The Cutter Wedge by Cutter Golf Defies Convention

Cutter Golf has defied convention in the Golf Wedges market with the release of The Cutter Wedge. Further information can be found at

Cutter Golf today reflected on its release of The Cutter Wedge, which was originally designed and conceptualized by Dickie Walsh (Manufacturer, Inventor and Entrepreneur). Dickie began to play around and tinker with wedges and later saw when the toe was turned downward it had the ability to cut through the surface vs. dragging and it also increased the size of the sweet spot.

Alongside Dickie is Jeff Sheets, of the world-renown golf firm of Jeff Sheets Golf LLC. Jeff has worked with more than 60 of golf’s Majors winners and two dozen golf Hall of Fame members on their most important tools – golf clubs. Over the past quarter century Jeff’s expertise in designing, fitting and customizing golf equipment has led to countless victories with some of the game’s biggest names. Jeff’s work on the Cutter Wedge legitimizes and validates its innovative design and uniqueness because he’s kind of a Big Deal in the Industry! The main aim was always to introduce a product that would help all golfers get closer to the hole, and lower their scores.

With that, Cutter Golf introduces the Cutter Wedge, a new club design, designed to help golfers get shots closer to the hole. In defying convention, this golf wedge does just that. The unique wedge shape expands the surface area for maximum contact and consistent shots. This innovative club cuts through all surfaces and manages any lie, letting you play easily in all course conditions.

Dickie Walsh, who invented the Cutter Wedge at Cutter Golf, says: “We wanted to try something new with The Cutter Wedge”. Anyone familiar with the Golf Wedges market will probably have noticed how most other manufacturers continue to release versions of the same club. The problem with that? All golfers get year after year, is an expensive update on old technology. Mr Walsh continued, “We felt this was a problem because traditional wedges do not provide any type of alignment assistance due to their asymmetric face profiles. The Cutter Wedge face profile is symmetrical, and lends itself well to visualizing proper alignment down the intended path of the golf ball.”

A traditional golf wedge experiences twisting of the club face when an off-center impact occurs. The perimeter weighting is supposed to prevent re-directing of the club face. However, during an off-center impact, the toe or heel controls the direction which then negates the perimeter weighting effect. The shape and perimeter weighting in the Cutter Wedge keep the face square regardless of how you hit the ball. Plus, its symmetrical face makes any lie manageable, letting you hit the sweet spot more often.

As a solution to this problem, the mavericks at Cutter Golf instead decided to develop what they call their “secret weapon”. What do they mean by that? It seems the Cutter’s secret weapon is the crescent shaped sole that distributes weight to the center of the face for improved strikes and better contact. Cutter Golf chose to make this move because Mr. Walsh noticed that a wedge club performs better with a downward toe, allowing it to cut through surfaces flawlessly and increasing your accuracy. Together, Walsh and Sheets created an innovative wedge club that offers better swing control to improve your short game. The Cutter Wedge will allow golfers to hit closer to the hole, providing a better chance to 1 putt…in other words, “Get up and Down”. The triangular shape minimizes turf resistance in the rough and on side hill lies and allows the club to “CUT” through the surface vs. dragging the club. Apart from the face shape the Cutter is a traditional sand wedge in every other aspect. It incorporates 56° of loft and 12° of an extra deep bounce with a 64° lie angle..

Dickie Walsh also said “We want to give our customers options. With The Cutter Wedge, they have a fresh new possibility. We want them to feel excited when using The Cutter Wedge. Trying something new is always a risk, but it’s a risk we believe is worth taking.”

Since Day 1, Cutter Golf has always aimed to stand out from the crowd, while also providing its customers the best possible experience at the best possible value.
