-- Lucy Berry has released "Digital Warriors," a guidebook intended to help parents address challenging topics, including teenage sexuality, consent, and the impact of online pornography on young relationships. The book provides frameworks for difficult conversations that many parents struggle to initiate with their children.

The book tackles pressing concerns supported by current research data. Studies show that one in ten boys encounters pornographic content by age nine, while over half of individuals aged 16-21 believe sexual violence is expected by women. Statistics also reveal that 70% of boys under 18 have viewed violent pornography, creating unrealistic relationship expectations.
Berry draws from her experience as both a parent and mentor to provide discussion frameworks and exercises. Her book covers healthy boundaries, emotional intelligence development, and mutual respect in relationships. Parents receive guidance on helping teenagers distinguish between realistic and unrealistic relationship expectations while building emotional connections.
The author has observed that technology companies are beginning to implement stronger age verification systems and content warnings, however parental involvement remains the most effective protective factor. As such, Berry believes it's important to teach teenagers to critically evaluate the content they encounter and understand the actual motivations behind much of the material online.
"I want to stimulate discussion and open the door to deeper self-awareness and greater understanding between the generations," Berry explained. While sexuality and consent are the book’s central focus, Berry doesn’t treat them in isolation. Digital Warriors also addresses adjacent issues such as mental health, sleep hygiene, and nutrition—factors that significantly influence emotional regulation and decision-making during adolescence.
"Digital Warriors" includes exercises designed to encourage boys to share their online experiences and help parents guide their children through digital challenges toward balanced, emotionally intelligent relationships that prioritise consent and emotional connection over personal gratification.
Berry's approach combines lived experience with scientific research to address gender bias and the relationship dynamics that children go through.
