-- Tee Off for a Cause: JAC Hosts 3rd Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament in Wallingford
Hamden, CT - May 27, 2025 - The Jamaican American Connection (JAC) proudly announces its 3rd Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament, set to take place on Friday, June 6, 2025, at Traditions Golf Club in Wallingford, CT. This charitable event invites the public to experience a day of camaraderie, competition, and community impact—all while supporting the academic dreams of local students.
Founded in 2010, JAC is a nonprofit organization committed to uplifting the Jamaican, Caribbean, and broader West Indian communities in Greater New Haven through education, culture, and connection. Since its inception, the organization has awarded more than $50,000 in college scholarships to 30 students and continues to host impactful community events that promote financial literacy, health equity, and cultural pride.
“Our golf tournament is more than just a day on the green—it’s an opportunity to invest in future leaders,” said Milton Jackson, co-chair of the tournament committee. “The funds raised go directly to college scholarships for promising students who are ready to make a difference in the world.”
The tournament offers players of all skill levels a chance to enjoy 18 scenic holes, food and refreshments, raffle prizes, and friendly competition. Corporate teams, community leaders, and golf enthusiasts will have the chance to network in a relaxed setting while supporting a cause that changes lives. This year's tournament also features Shamar Wilson, a JAC scholar and captain of the Paine College golf team and was recently featured on ESPN’s Andscape. Shamar has recently competed in the PGA Works College Championship placing inside of the top 20. “The support I’ve received from JAC is not limited to dollars; I’ve been invited into a network of entrepreneurs, professional leaders, philanthropists and community leaders all focused on impacting the broader community. This tournament has impacted my life and I’m excited to be a part of impacting future lives as well.”
Sponsorship opportunities are also available, offering companies and organizations meaningful exposure both online and on the course, including signage, social media features, and direct engagement with a diverse group of professionals and local community leaders.
