According to the American Diabetes Association, nearly 10 percent of Americans suffer from Type 2 diabetes or adult-onset diabetes with a 1.5 million new cases being added each year. The disorder is listed as the 7th leading cause of death in the United States. Consequently, clinical research supporting new medicines and treatments for the diabetes mellitus type 2 are essential to improving public health.
Clinical Research of West Florida has launched a new study involving patients who are unable to control their diabetes despite a taking prescription oral diabetes medication. The study is designed to understand and help individuals with the management of diabetes type 2 and develop new treatments to combat its effects. The West Florida clinical trials center will also run a “diabetes + cardio” study to investigate and measure the effects of medication and weight loss training on patients suffering from the disorder.
The third study is expected to investigate the onset and effects of diabetic peripheral neuropathy or nerve damage in the legs and potential solutions to stimulate the growth of blood vessels and the regeneration of nerves.
The Clearwater & Tampa Bay clinical trial facility provides participants with personalized attention from medical professionals, minimal wait times, private lounge access, free no-insurance medical care, access to new medicines, and in some cases, compensation for time and travel. Clinical trials are conducted based on a HIPAA-compliant database with a 30-day waiting period between trials.
Founded by Lynne Merriam in 1994, Clinical Research of West Florida was established as an independent research institute for clinical trials in West Florida.
