-- East Orange, NJ - June 1, 2025 - Mayor Ted R. Green, alongside an influential coalition of leaders, has launched the GREEN Team, a bold initiative to empower citizens through democratic engagement, to increase voter turnout, and build a brighter future in East Orange.
This dynamic coalition consists of: Chris James for First Ward Council; Christopher Awe for Second Ward Council; Bergson Leneus for Third Ward Council; Tameika Garrett-Ward for Fourth Ward Council; Alicia Holman for Fifth Ward Council; Mikie Sherrill for Governor; Chris Durkin for County Clerk; Michael Venezia for General Assembly, and Carmen Morales for General Assembly.
Driven by a mission to demystify politics and mobilize voters, the GREEN Team aims to break down barriers, foster inclusivity, and ensure every voice in the community is heard.
"Every vote matters, and every voice counts," said Mayor Green. "The GREEN Team is here to educate, engage, and empower our community because making a difference starts with active participation."
The initiative comes in response to low voter turnout in recent elections and emphasizes strategies to create a more informed and inspired electorate. Civic engagement workshops, youth voter education programs, community tours for resident feedback, early voting campaigns, and celebratory events are at the center of this effort to strengthen democratic participation.
