Beauty Reverence released a new report detailing five reasons skincare consumers should switch to using wholly organic items, including being gentler on the skin and free of harmful chemicals.

-- Beauty Reverence, an online advocate for sustainable, all-natural beauty products, released a new report on the benefits of organic skincare. The report also highlights the many dangers of using non-organic products on one’s skin.

The recent report aims to make people aware of the potential damage they could be doing both to themselves and the environment with non-organic, chemical products.

Over 300 million tons of plastic are produced per year, over eight million tons of which will end up in the ocean. Beauty Reverence’s goal is to change that by scaling down the cosmetic bag and designing each product to be completely organic and compostable.

The beauty company’s founder, Lynn Sebert, defines organic skincare products as those that contain only ingredients exclusively derived from natural sources, including muds, oils, foods, minerals, and plants.

Substances such as petroleum, aluminum, and lead require mining, depleting the planet of natural resources and causing extensive environmental damage. They don’t break down in landfills, further damaging ecosystems.

Inorganic products are manufactured in factories, which typically creates air pollution. Beauty Reverence offers products that are less harsh, more nourishing, substantially better for the environment, and more effective at creating true, natural, long-term beauty than traditional non-organic cosmetics.

Sebert’s organic products use all-natural components from farming and gardening that contain essential nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and amino acids.

The company’s products are never tested on animals. They are hypoallergenic, contain no harsh chemicals, parabens, phthalates, synthetic estrogen compounds, or fluoride.

Beauty Reverence’s creation was inspired by a trip to the Oregon Coast and the sheer amount of plastic trash Sebert found there. She founded Beauty Reverence to introduce skincare products as good for the environment as they are for her customers’ skin.

Sebert herself says: “Here’s the thing to recognize: your body evolved in the wild. We are physically designed to benefit from the nutrients that come from the mud, the plants, and the sea. When you apply those to your face, it’s like going home again for your body. It’s incredible for you.”
