Despite their lead singer's death, Sublime with Rome continues to define themselves and proves it on their latest tour.

Sublime was one of the premier bands of the late 90’s, and their combination SKA and alternative rock was considered ground breaking music. But then Bradley Nowell passed away in 1996, and many believed that would be the end of the band. After all, Nowell’s distinct vocals were one of the main things that made the band stand out in the SKA punk sound arena.

Fortunately for alternative rock and SKA punk fans, Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh didn’t quit because of Nowell’s death. Instead, they formed a new band and continued playing music from their Sublime playlist but a lawsuit stopped the band from adding Rome Ramirez to the original Sublime, because Nowell had trademarked the name and was the sole owner. So the band compromised and began to feature Rome, and in the end, changed the name of the band to Sublime with Rome. The new band continues to play both Sublime classics and its new and original music.

The new band’s first album “Yours Truly” was met with critical acclaim. So much so that the first single released, called “Panic,” made it to number four on the alternative rock billboard. The band continued to tour and with a mix of their new music in combination with the songs from their Sublime days, they have reestablished themselves as a truly unique and great band in their own right.

Sublime with Rome stays true to the music that originally propelled Sublime to commercial success. Songs like “Santeria” and “What I Got” are great examples of music from the Sublime era, but Sublime with Rome proves that they aren’t stuck in the past. They definitely are not resting on the old band’s success. Rome Ramirez makes this a new band, and their music is similar but not at all the same. Rome adds his own vocal and style to the band and it creates a wholly different and awesome sound.

Concert goers that purchase Sublime with Rome tickets should not expect to see the Sublime from the 90’s… There are surprises in store. Sublime with Rome is a new and different band that pays tribute to their past, while heading in a different direction from their original Sublime days. According to a spokesman from ConcertBank, Sublime with Rome tickets are still available for the Mandalay Bay Beach on May 22, which promises to be a big kickoff for their summer concert tour.
