Spence Diamonds Donates Over $100K to Ethiopian Youth, as Human Capital Worths More Than Diamonds

Diamonds are precious, indeed. But it is people who make our lives worth living: Spence Diamonds donates over $100K to Ethiopian Youth and has donated $1,574,006 to various charities around the globe since 2007.

/PressCable/ — Spence Diamonds has donated $100,300 to imagine1day's initiatives in Ethiopia by supporting 35 Ethiopian students via the Graduate Fund High School Scholarship Program, and funding the construction of a third school in the town of Betele in Southern Ethiopia.

Imagine1day is a cause committed to the next generation of leaders who will carry Africa into a new era of prosperity. This will be accomplished via providing quality education for all Ethiopians funded free of foreign aid by 2030.

By supporting imagine1day's work in the town of Betele in Southern Ethiopia, Spence Diamonds is funding the opportunity to bring out of school children back to school, support gender equality programming and support all teacher and capacity building over the next three years. The construction of the school and latrine are the first steps for this school. This school is plagued with flooding during the rainy season, so severe that children cannot cross the river and can go weeks without going to school. The new school and latrine will help address this challenge, so that all children can go to school every day. The photos shared here are of the school's construction progress, alongside photos of the students. The school's inauguration is scheduled for this fall 2014.

In 2013, Spence Diamonds supported 52 students and families in Ethiopia via imagine1day's Graduate Fund: High School Scholarship Program. By choosing to invest in imagine1day's innovative high school scholarship program, Spence Diamonds made progressing to high school possible for students whose families wouldn't otherwise have the financial capacity to keep their children in school. In addition to the costs of Grade 9 being covered, the students' families received a seed loan and business skill training. These families generated the necessary profit to fund the costs associated with Grades 10 through 12, with the tangible incentive to keep their child in school, being a forgiven loan and newfound financial opportunity. In addition to having the privilege to support these students and their families, Spence Diamonds funded the construction of 2 new schools located in the communities of Gamora and Alose in Ethiopia in 2013.

“We are grateful to our guests who honor Spence Diamonds with their business. Due to valued guests' support, Spence diamonds is fortunate in fulfilling the vision of uplifting people to achieve their dreams. Giving back to the community is extremely important to us.” says CEO, Sean Jones. “It is an honor to have the opportunity to support imagine1day in the amazing work they are up to in Ethiopia” added Sean.

By earning their client's business, the Spence Diamonds organization creates their ability to support meaningful causes around the world. The Spence Diamonds team vision is simply to relieve hardship and suffering for those less fortunate. Spence Diamonds has donated $1,574,006 to various charities around the globe since 2007.
