Studies consistently show that small business owners are still failing to get the financial help that they need. It is suggested that only around a third of entrepreneurs get their financial advice from a qualified accountant, despite the increasing complexity of the modern business world.
A business coaching expert today said that this was leaving companies open to possible problems, as small business owners may be making decisions based on wrong or out of date information. Indeed, it appears that business owners are now becoming more reliant on Google searches and social media networks, which may lead to them inadvertently getting poor advice.
The founder of YourBusinessCoachingClub, Craig Ridley, said this “appears to be a global problem, as studies from all over the world show the same issues cropping up in terms of companies not getting good, professional financial advice.” He continued by saying that this seems to be due to worries about the cost and time that it could involve do this.
One of the main issues in this area is that of planning for retirement. Only around half of all entrepreneurs plan ahead for their golden years with the help of professional advice.
Mr Ridley carried on by saying that “small business owners need to be smart about getting financial advice in a way they can trust and that suits them.” He pointed out that paying for solid, professional advice can turn out to be a terrific investment in the long run if it makes it easier to look forward to a brighter future.
