Although perhaps one of the seemingly easier health goals to achieve, a recommended seven hours of sleep per night is an often overlooked part of overall health and wellbeing, explains Pulsetto. Research published by Harvard University showed the substantive negative impact poor sleep has on chronic health conditions, mental health, and overall longevity. The study showed that those getting less than five hours of rest per night were at a 15% higher risk of mortality than their more well-rested counterparts (1).
