The Southern California Pulmonary and Sleep Disorders Medical Center (805-557-9930) has updated its treatment options to include telemedicine consultation, diagnosis, and treatments, through a secure video portal with its team of specialists.

Southern California Pulmonary and Sleep Disorders Medical Center, which serves Thousand Oaks, Los Angeles, Malibu, Westlake Village, Camarillo, and the rest of Southern California has launched new telemedicine consults that provide many of the same treatment options as in-person visits, with the added convenience of video calls.

More information about telemedicine for sleep disorders, the secure video portal, and a full list of treatments and specialists can be found at https://sleepmd4u.com/sleeptm/

The medical center specializes in diagnosing and treating sleep disorders and now offers telemedicine services through the American Academy of Sleep Medicine's SleepTM service. This program allows clients to connect securely through video chats with top sleep specialists from across California and includes several tools to help with sleep tracking, diagnosis, and therapy.

According to the American Sleep Association, up to 70 million adults in the United States have a sleep disorder where insomnia is the most common symptom, affecting almost one-third of Americans. While there is no “one-size-fits-all” solution, SleepTM allows clients to talk confidentially about the issue to a certified specialist and allows them to access a wide range of treatments, such as sleep apnea devices.

The team of sleep specialists will work individually with each client and attempt to determine the root cause of the issue, as well as any extenuating factors, to find the most effective solution. The clinic also provides direct access to several key therapies, including the Bongo Sleep Apnea Therapy Device, and Inspire Therapy for obstructive sleep apnea.

Using the new features built into SleepTM, clients can easily track their sleep with sleep diaries, or import sleep data from supported smart devices, such as a FitBit or other smartwatch. The service also allows healthcare providers to send and receive supplementary materials, such as sleep questionnaires.

A spokesperson for the medical center explained, “Telemedicine is health care without walls. It connects patients and medical providers through live, web-based video visits. By eliminating the barrier of distance, telemedicine improves access to care. It saves time and reduces travel expenses, making health care more efficient.”
