With the new announcement, the company aims to help users enjoy higher energy levels and be more productive by improving their sleep and optimizing their day.

Sleep deprivation can cause mood swings, fatigue, irritability, difficulty focusing, and poor performance at work and at home. It can also negatively affect a person’s mental abilities and overall health. Improving sleep hygiene, or the habits that help a person sleep well can improve cognitive abilities, productivity, and general well-being.

The RISE app focuses on the two key elements of sleep that dictate how you feel and perform: sleep debt and circadian rhythm. Sleep debt is measured by the cumulative number of hours the person has missed relative to their sleep need. RISE calculates sleep debt, helping the user understand how much they need to sleep for maximum performance during the day.

The circadian rhythm is the body’s internal clock that dictates sleep and wake times. RISE pulls historical data from the user’s phone and predicts their energy schedule for the day, informing them when they will have their two daily energy peaks, when they will be drowsy, and when they should start winding down.

RISE also sends notifications for 16 science-based habits that will help the user reduce the sleep debt and optimize the day based on their energy schedule. For example, the app reminds users when they should wear blue-light glasses and when they should avoid caffeine, based on their own personal chronobiology.

80% of RISE users feel the benefits within 5 days. RISE can be synchronized with a wearable fitness tracker, such as Apple Watch, Oura, and Fitbit, for precision.

“It’s only been a few days, but with this app, I’ve noticed a marked improvement in how much sleep I’m getting,” said a satisfied user. “The notifications for the different things that may affect your sleep have been incredibly helpful to begin to change my sleep schedule and hopefully resolve my difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep at night.”

RISE is the product of Rise Science co-founders Leon Sasson and Jeff Kahn.
