Many associate braces as a treatment for children and teens. However, as Schacher Orthodontics points out, no one is too old to correct their teeth. In fact, one in five patients in orthodontic treatment is an adult. Lingual braces are an especially suitable option for adults, as the braces are placed on the inside of the teeth, making them barely visible.
"Many adults are concerned with the appearance of braces. Incognito is a new bracket system that is used on the inside of your teeth. This technique developed in Germany is custom made for each individual patient. Most patients love they are completely invisible from the outside," the spokesperson for the company said.
Invisalign has become a popular orthodontic treatment in recent years and is considered more comfortable than lingual braces as well as easier to keep clean, according to Colgate. Lingual braces, on the other hand, can correct very overcrowded and crooked teeth and require minimal effort from the patient, more than showing up to the dentist appointment for adjustment every six to eight weeks.
For those in need of smaller adjustments, Schacher Orthodontics offers Invisalign, and the clinic is equipped with the technology for 3D imaging. Patients who have severe problems can opt for clear ceramic brackets for their traditional braces as an esthetically pleasing alternative to metal-colored brackets.
