As pat of its expanded service, Systana Gravure uses two lasering techniques - laser marking and laser etching. With laser marking, the laser vaporizes a thin layer of the surface material leaving behind shallow marks that make up the client’s design. Conversely, with laser etching, the laser fuses one material (usually ceramic powder) to the surface of another material, creating raised marks. As part of the update, the company is now offering both services to its clients.
“Laser marking and etching have become increasingly popular, especially among industrial clients,” explained a spokesperson for Systana Gravure. “This is largely due to laser technology’s ability to produce much more consistent and precise results than traditional marking methods, which is especially important in industries where accuracy and traceability are paramount.”
As far as what materials the engraving can be done on, Systana Gravure recommends either aluminum or stainless steel. Aluminum is better for clients looking for a lighter, softer, less expensive option, but stainless steel is more durable and resistant to scratches, scuffs, rust, and oxidation. If requested, they can also mark other metals, as well as wood, plastic, and glass.
