Entrepreneurs with a desire to associate with other entrepreneurs are invited to be beta testers for a new social networking site.

As a reward, they may be featured in their own press release that’s distributed to hundreds of news sites including Google News, Yahoo, Bing, ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC.

The new site is called ActionTakers.org and is sponsored by AuthorityJet.com, a leading provider of press release services..

Spokesman John Horning says “we love entrepreneurs and feel it’s appropriate and important to build an online community of entrepreneurial-minded people for the purpose of sharing ideas, and offering mutual support and encouragement”.

Horning explained that the site has a threefold purpose:

Promote entrepreneurship through the sharing of experiences and ideas.

Provide opportunities for mentoring and the development of relationships with fellow entrepreneurs.

Provide a platform where entrepreneurs can showcase themselves and their businesses.

New members are asked to fill out a profile with details about themselves and their entrepreneurial experiences. There is no cost to join or participate.

When asked if ActionTakers.org is like LinkedIn, Horning explains that there are some significant differences. For one, the site is focused on entrepreneurs, not employees and employers. Profiles do not include employment history or educational experience, but they do include things that are pertinent to entrepreneurs such as information about their current business, including number of staff, sales volume, and even the average number of hours worked each week and a description of the work environment.

“What really sets us apart”, according to Horning, “is that we try to go deeper into the entrepreneurial experience and psyche to find out what makes them tick.” Member profiles include questions like “What personal and professional challenges have you had to overcome?” and “What are some turning points in your life?”.

Members have the opportunity to post articles, photos, and videos, and can like, share, and comment on each other’s posts, similar to Facebook and LinkedIn. They can also send private messages to each other, form and join groups, and participate in forum discussions.

One member will be selected each week as the “Outstanding Entrepreneur Of The Week”. Winners will be selected by staff members based on the entrepreneurial spirit they exhibit, and not necessarily on their level of success.

Winners will be announced via blog post on ActionTakers.org and a press release that will be distributed to 500+ newspaper, radio, and TV news websites, along with inclusions on hundreds of blogs and social media platforms.

Placement of the press releases is guaranteed on Google News, Yahoo, Bing, ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC. As a bonus, the winners will forever be entitled to “bragging rights”, meaning they can use the media logos on their promotional materials and in social media.
