The launch of the Runt complements Safety Technology’s arsenal of personal protection products that include several stun gun profiles, as well as pepper sprays in a number of delivery mechanisms, and many other crime-deterrent technologies in the personal safety space.

The self-defense products market exceeds $2.5 billion (USD) globally and is projected to grow at a rate of about six percent annually through 2025, according to Grand View Research.

The launch of the Runt stun gun brings to market a hand-held device that can incapacitate an assailant allowing time to escape danger. The Runt delivers a significant 20 million volts and 4.5 milliamps of electric shock. At 4.5 inches long, it is smaller than most smartphones. The rechargeable device is available in many colors, and features a nylon belt loop holster, rubberized coating, wrist strap with a disable pin, and LED flashlight.

Safety Technology is the largest drop ship personal defense products wholesaler in the U.S. In addition to stun guns and pepper sprays, product categories include hidden cameras, spy and surveillance, diversion safes and other equipment. The company provides authorized dealers with business packages for websites and internet sales as well as gun and trade shows.

Air Force veteran Michael Gravette, president of Safety Technology, started the business in 1986 when he recognized the importance of personal protection equipment for families and businesses.

“I was looking for something my wife, a flight attendant, could have with her when she traveled,” Gravette said about the start of the company. “I saw an ad for stun guns in a magazine and ordered one for her.”
