Post 1917 Steakhouse in Reading, MA, has recently been recognized in local magazines that are praising the new restaurant for its atmosphere and menu.

Jason Carron, the head chef and owner of Post 1917, transformed Reading's old post office into a fine-dining restaurant earlier this year. Carron has long experience working as a consultant in the restaurant industry and has worked to build up some of the area's most successful establishments. Post 1917, which opened in the spring of 2024, is his first own restaurant and brings together decades of experiences from other restaurants.

As he explains in the Boston Man Magazine, Carron first viewed the old post office in 2019 but decided not to take on the project due to the large amount of work and budget it would require to get it ready for opening.

After a second look in October 2023, he decided to follow through with his dreams for the building, partnering with his brother-in-law, who bought the property. Carron's wife Lori is behind the stylish interior design that gives the restaurant its atmosphere.

"Every day we come in, we come in ready to be the most hospitable group we possibly can. We want everyone to feel like family when they walk through our doors," Carron said in an interview.

Post 1917 has a lunch and dinner menu with choices of drinks for the different times of the day. While the primary focus is on quality meat, the restaurant also has fresh seafood, gourmet shareables, and other mains.

Some of the items on the dinner menu include Chilean sea bass, a 32 oz long-bone steak, and lobster tacos. On the lunch menu, which is served on the restaurant's deck, guests can choose from dishes like lobster rolls, filet medallions and refreshing drinks such as mai tai, sangria, and margarita.

A guest shared their experience: "Such an incredible experience! The restaurant is beautiful; everywhere you look, you can see how much thought went into it. The food and drinks were unbelievable."
