-- A specialist cosmetic plastic surgeon based at a leading clinic in Port St Lucie, FL has launched a new report on the four different types of facelifts as well as the benefits of each option. The Vinyard Institute of Plastic Surgery (VIPS) understands the pressure people feel to show their best face whether in public, with friends, or on social media.

The newly launched report focuses on the four different types of facelifts including the mini facelift and whether it is the best option for people based on their needs. The mini facelift requires a shorter incision when compared to a traditional facelift, which means the recovery process is easier.

Dr Vinyard offers four facelifts at VIPS including the full facelift, mid-facelift, lower-facelift, and the mini. He says women have been getting facelifts for over 100 years, though the first few decades offered crude and intrusive treatments. Over time, they improved and evolved until the current successful modern techniques were invented.

Today, a facelift typically involves an incision being made near the hairline, which extends down the temples to the ears. Once the incision has been made, the tissue and muscles underneath will be pulled and tightened, effectively lifting, and smoothing the skin. This process reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and the effects of aging.

A mid-facelift is comparable to a mini facelift as it focuses on the hollow areas around the cheekbones and upper jaw. With age, these areas tend to lose tissue and become thinner, and droopy. The mid-lift is ideal for patients who want improvement for the bottom half of their face, specifically the jowls.

The lower lift focuses on tightening a loosened chin and neck area. Typically, nonsurgical methods are used for these procedures including Kybella injections or CoolSculpting, which can provide a more youthful, tighter, aesthetic appearance.

A mini lift involves a small thin incision that is typically made around the hairline by the ears. The improvements around the mouth and jaw can look more natural than the full lift option while also offering a shorter recovery time.

A company spokesperson said: “Choosing to have a facelift is a very personal, customized procedure, which begins with a consultation. This is where Dr Vinyard will have the opportunity to examine your face and make recommendations as to what additional procedures you should consider, such as an eye lift or dermal fillers.”
