Popular Flashlight Song Shines Light on Spring Break Safety Concerns

A flashlight retailers urges people to not get lax regarding flashlights and safety just because summer is here.

It’s one of the hottest hits of the year; the Flashlight is a song about shining a light on people’s lives to figure out where they should be going, but a national retailer is using the hit song to call attention to an area that he says everyone should be aware of.

“Daylight savings time just happened and that means a lot of people will regulate their flashlights to the back of the kitchen drawer and not pull them out until next year,” says a spokesman for MJH Innovations, an online retailer who sells quality products at reasonable prices, like the My Pocket Lite LED Flashlight. “But that would be a mistake. Although it gets dark later, the sun still goes down and if people are caught in the dark without a light, it could put them as risk for accidents or crime.”

And he’s right. For example, statistics from the Bureau of Justice show that crimes such as aggravated assault, property crimes, and automobile theft are higher in the summer than any other month. And other studies show that injuries and fatalities stemming from automobile and bicyclists crashing into one another are highest after the sun goes down.

“People shouldn’t let the fact that it gets dark later lure them into a false sense of security. It’s still important to carry a handheld flashlight at all times in case an emergency strikes, they need to find their way around in the dark, or to hold off an attacker after the sun sets.”

It is their company philosophy that good products shouldn’t cost a fortune, and they work hard to provide quality products to consumers for reasonable prices.
