PCS Bail Bonds gives its opinion on the guilty plea of former Fort Worth crime official in her ongoing embezzlement case.

PCS Bail Bonds (www.PCSBailBonds.com), Fort Worth, Texas’s most trusted bail bond service, is weighing in on the embezzlement case of former Fort Worth crime official.

Elizabeth Carmichael, the former executive director of the Fort Worth Crime Prevention Resource Center, has recently pled guilty to embezzling funds. She was fired back in 2004 for her misappropriation of those funds. “It’s not unusual for cases to take this much time to reach a consensus,” says Paul Schuder, owner of PCS Bail Bonds. “There are so many pieces involved once someone is charged, especially when it has to do with a dismissal from a job. This guilty plea is the culmination of years of the judicial process taking its course.”

As a former worker for Bear Mountain Ranch in Colorado, Carmichael allegedly stole over $450,000 while she was a bookkeeper and manager from 2009 up until 2012. Her guilty plea is in regards to the crime of attempted theft of $1,000 to $20,000. As part of her plea agreement, Carmichael will serve 90 days in jail, pay a fine of $120,000 as restitution for her theft, and serve five years of supervised probation along with 400 community service hours.

“Terms of plea agreements take some time and have to be agreed upon by both parties,” Schuder continues. “Both sides want and expect that the punishment is fair, and agreeing to terms is one way of ensuring that happens.”

Terms of the plea agreement of this case was confirmed by a spokesperson for the 14th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. Sentencing will be held on May 19. Carmichael was most recently employed in the healthcare sector but was fired last year after news of her story started appearing in the media.

As part of its commitment to the Tarrant County community, PCS Bail Bonds provides bail bond services.
