Papzz Wedding Photographer has launched PapzzWeddingPhotographer.com to showcase the potential of the new, fashion-based approach to wedding photography. Founder Angela Brimberry is an advocate of wedding photography that takes its cue from editorial approaches seen in major bridal and fashion magazines. With the emerging importance of social media, photography is a critical aspect of a successful wedding experience. The site is intended to meet this need by giving wedding albums the look of a high-end fashion photo shoot. “The worst thing in the world is to be the one sending – or receiving – a social media post that says, ‘Hey, Mr. Wedding Photographer, Thanks for the Awful Wedding Photography!'” said Brimberry. “It's a miserable way to go. As more and more brides are speaking out on social media about how unhappy they are with their wedding photography, though, we thought it was time to make new options available in Houston.”
Brimberry speaks from personal experience. Five years ago, when she received her professionally done wedding photos, she never dreamed she would be thanking her wedding photographer for the awful wedding photography she paid him for, but today that is exactly what she's thinking. “When I received my professionally done wedding pictures, it was a turning point in my life,” said Brimberry. “I was so upset it made me almost cry, but it gave me a determination to change things, today I'm thanking that photographer who ruined the most important photos of my life.”
The problem is that most brides get their wedding inspiration from high fashion wedding magazines and TV shows like My Fair Wedding with David Tutera. These brides surely expect their wedding photos to equal those in the magazines. “Brides put so much into their dream wedding and expect their photographer to create similar looks, and they should. Modern couples are looking for a mix of traditional, photojournalist and High Fashion images” noted Brimberry. Indeed, Wikipedia acknowledges that “A third style that is becoming more popular is a fashion-based approach. In contemporary/fashion-based wedding photography, a photojournalist will combine candid images of the events of the day with posed images that are inspired by editorial fashion photography as would be found in magazines like Vogue or Vanity Fair. This style often involves more innovative and dramatic post-processing of images.”
Papzz's new site shows that the time has come for a change in the wedding photography industry. Site visitors can see how the fashion-based approach can work in a variety of wedding contexts. “We make the magazine ideal a reality for all brides,” said Brimberry.
